Webster Technique Certified
What is Webster Technique?
Chiropractic care benefits all aspects of your body's ability to be healthy. This is accomplished by working with the nervous system--the communication system between your brain and body. Doctors of Chiropractic work to correct spinal, pelvic and cranial misalignments (subluxations). When misaligned, these structures create an imbalance in surrounding muscles and ligaments. Additionally, the resulting nerve system stress may affect the body's ability to function optimally.
The Webster technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation/ SI joint dysfunction. In so doing neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is improved.
Dr. Larry Webster, founder of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association discovered this adjustment as a safe means to restore proper pelvic balance and function. This specific sacral analysis can be used on all weight bearing individuals to determine S/I joint dysfunction/ sacral subluxation and is therefore applicable for the entire population. The assessment includes heel flexion to buttocks, with restricted flexion indicating the affected SI joint. Correction is made with a diversified, sacral adjustment. It is used on all weight bearing individuals presenting with this biomechanical restriction. Common symptoms include (but are not limited to) low back pain, sciatic neuralgia, and symptoms associated with sacral subluxation and/ or S/I joint dysfunction.
How can chiropractic add comfort during pregnancy?
Chiropractic care during pregnancy is an essential ingredient to your prenatal care! Preexisting but unnoticed imbalances in your spine and pelvis become stressed during pregnancy. These pronounced discomforts make it difficult to preform routine, daily activities.
A lager percent of all pregnant women back discomfort and pain during pregnancy. This is due to the rapid growth of the baby, and interferences to your body's normal structural adaptations to that growth.
Chiropractic care throughout pregnancy can relieve and even prevent the common discomforts experienced in pregnancy. Specific adjustments eliminate the causes of stress on the spine and pelvis.
Comfort to the baby, too.
As your baby develops, your uterus enlarges to accommodate the rapid growth. When the pelvis is in a well balanced state, the ligaments connected to the uterus maintain an equalized and supportive suspension. If your pelvis is out of balance in any way, these ligaments may become twisted and torqued, and create a uneven pull on the uterus. This uterine tension may restrict your babies movement and hamper its ability to maneuver into the optimal position. Any compromised position throughout pregnancy can affect his or her development. Conditions such as torticollis can occur because a baby's space is cramped in utero.
We offer specific spinal and pelvic analysis and adjustments for your specific needs during pregnancy. You and your baby's safety and comfort are first and foremost while under our care!
According to William's Obstetrics, Dystocia or abnormal progression of labor, is caused by an abnormality of expulsive forces, abnormality of the maternal pelvis, and abnormality of position, presentation, or development of the fetus. Through chiropractic adjustments we help to decrease the risk of Dystocia by optimizing nerve function to the uterus and surrounding muscles, obtaining proper alignment of the pelvic cavity, and allowing the fetus to have an optimal safe environment to develop and thrive.
When the baby is finally born their nervous system has to go through a specific process in order to develop properly. Form the first time you make eye contact with your baby till they reach adolescence it is vital that each step if taken in the right order at the right time. Learning this process can help with all sorts of developmental disorders.
